Google Drive Cloud Sync¶
Cloud Sync is the best way to keep your data safe from hardware failure and to migrate your history to a new phone.
How it Works¶
The app uses a "Hidden App Data" folder on your Google Drive.
- Privacy: Your backups are invisible to other apps and cannot be seen in your main Google Drive file list.
- Security: Data is protected by your Google Account credentials.
Enabling Cloud Sync¶
- Open the
Backup & Exportscreen. - Tap the Cloud Icon in the top toolbar and sign in with your Google Account.
- Once connected, the cloud icon will appear bright.
Features¶
Manual Upload¶
Long-press any local backup in your list and select "Upload to Google Drive". This is useful for saving specific important milestones.
Automatic Background Sync¶
In the Backup Settings, enable "Automatically upload backups to Google Drive".
- Every time a scheduled backup is created, it will be automatically pushed to the cloud.
- The app will respect your retention settings (e.g., if you keep 5 local backups, it will also only keep the 5 most recent cloud backups).
Restoring from Cloud¶
If you get a new phone:
- Sign in to the same Google Account.
- Tap the menu (three dots) > "Restore from Google Drive".
- Select your backup from the list to download and import it.
